About Us
Our Mandate
The Palestine House Educational and Cultural Centre is a non-for-profit organization established in June 1992 to serve as an educational, cultural and social centre, in particular, for the Palestinian community in the Greater Toronto Area and generally to diverse communities in Canada. Our services have expanded rapidly to target all newcomers to Canada residing within the GTA area. Currently, we offer settlement services to newcomers to Canada through ISAP - Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program and English classes through LINC Language Instruction for Newcomers. Several committees have been organized for the deliberate coordination of community activities; some of these include: women, youth and seniors committees.
Our Mission
Palestine House programs aim to serve the diverse needs of newcomers by providing them with a broad range of services to help them better integrate and become self sufficient in Canadian society.
Our Principles
- Comprehensiveness: we aim to provide comprehensive services to new comers to assure quick settlement and adaptation in Canada.
- Settlement and Adaptation as a common social good: we see our services as integral to the betterment of our community and Canadian society as a whole.
- Accessibility: all new comers and eligible clients shall have equal access to our services.
- Human Rights and Mutual Respect: in our work we stress the universality of human rights, democracy and mutual respect.
